NASCAR: UP TO SPEED • Advocare 500 • Phoenix International Speedway

As the Nascar race for the cup winds down Kevin Harvick wins at Phoenix on Sunday. The driver of the No. 29 Chevrolet crossed the finish line ahead of Kasey Kahne after 312 laps around the 1-mile oval located in Avondale, AZ. Jimmie Johnson began the Advocare 500 on the pole and lead early on before a difference of pit strategy jumbled up the field. As Johnson avoided a few close calls, second place points driver Matt Kenseth dealt with an ill-handling car all weekend long. Kevin Harvick was leading the race with just over 40 laps to go when he ran out of gas, moments later Ryan Newman suffered the same fate giving the lead to Carl Edwards. Ironically Harvick would benefit when Edwards ran out of gas coming to the white flag to earn his fourth win of the season.
