Is Vector Marketing a scam? | My response

Have you heard of Cutco knives? If not, consider yourself lucky.

Vector Marketing is the company that markets these knives. Independent consultants sell by contacting friends, family, and “referrals.” The company is a Multi-Level Marketing company (though some within the company say it’s not an MLM and is a “direct sales” company).

Until 2011, independent consultants had to purchase a Cutco knife set in order to work for the company. The company has endured numerous lawsuits throughout the years (it was founded in 1981) and has had to change its procedures due to legality.

Many people (like myself) consider the company to be a scam. I was almost roped into the company by an acquaintance after I graduated from college. I feel grateful I did some digging and learned the truth about Vector Marketing before even having an “interview.”

I decided to respond to a former Vector Marketing employee’s video in which she gave her experience working for the company. Even though I’ve never worked for the company, some simple Google-ing gave me crucial information about the job that this former employee omitted from her video. I believe it’s so important to raise awareness about MLM/direct sales/network marketing companies to prevent others from being scammed.
